Investigation of Perchlorate

Duncan, Oklahoma

The Study: Earth Forensics investigated perchlorate groundwater and soil contamination in a residential neighborhood in the city of Duncan, OK, potentially caused by missile motor casing cleaning operations and disposal of Perchlorate laden wastewater into unlined evaporation ponds.  The disposal occurred on-site from 1963 to 1991 but was not fully investigated or addressed until 20 years later.

Earth forensics scope of work included investigation regarding fields of geology, hydrogeology and hydrology, historical operations as they related to the distribution of perchlorate and nitrate into the residential neighborhood.

Results: Project resulted in multiple expert reports, rebuttal reports, depositions and finally settled prior to trial.  Expert reports were used in multiple lawsuits associated with the same issues.
